Teaching the Horseman

My Philosophy:

i)        Trust, respect, forgiveness, discipline .  These are the keys to training, and horses.

ii)      Horsemanship: How to teach your horse to trust, and get a willing response "every time," using methods of mental manipulation, without “gimmicks" or force.

iii)    Let the horse teach YOU the best way to ask for predictable results and a willing response

iv) There are no "horse Guru's" and there is no magic to it.  No whispering, that's all nonsense...  It's reading the horse, and knowing how much or how little to apply to each horse, per their reactions and senses.

I want people to be happy with their horse, and the horse to be happy working for the person.

Personal Teaching

Courses Offered:

Basic Horsemanship:

Learn techniques ranging from finding a horse to purchase, caring for your horse (feeding, grooming, handling, saddling) to exercise programs, lunging, and general training methods to keep your new horse from becoming “Novice sour”. Learn to handle yourself, and your horse, both on the ground and in the saddle.

Improving Horsemanship

Focus on improving the relationship between horse & rider, and keeping each "in tune" with one another.  The rider will learn effortless training techniques which not only are very simple to grasp, but which build confidence and self-esteem in the horse.  These techniques and lessons improve and maintain the horse-rider relationship for the life of that relationship. Teach your horse to trust, and get a willing response "every time," using methods of mental manipulation, without “gimmicks" or force.

Advanced horsemanship:

Handling all ages of horses. Training techniques for all phases of equine interests. Learn techniques to solving and “curing” the problem horse.  This is a two week minimum starter course, with follow up several times per year.  This course is not offered in a group setting, due to the intense personal attention that it requires.

Competition

Offering training in all aspects of Western competition including but not limited to: Basic Trail Riding for the non-competitor,  Cutting - Start to Finish on Cattle, Reining, Working Cowhorse & Snaffle bit, Roping, Team Penning, Western Pleasure, Barrels & Poles, and Gymkhana events.  Also offering English basics.

English & Other

All basics of English Training, up to Flat and rail training.  Facilities & training include starting over fences up to 3’3”.

Driving: basics of driving, single hitch. Your horse will drive, harness-up, and be ready to pull single hitch buggies, carts, etc.

Group Clinics

I give clinics for each of the above courses, with the exception of Advanced Horsemanship.  However, my preferred method of conducting a clinic is to hold an open "Town Hall Clinic" in which every participant is encouraged to ask questions about any topic, which I can then address on an improvised basis.  In this way, I feel that everyone has a chance to get something from the clinic - not just the topic of my choice.  I have a great deal of fun with these, and so do the 'participants!'
